CTD arrests ‘five MQM-L hitmen’

Claims they were trained along with Ajmal Pahari, Kashif David by RAW in India

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Wednesday to have caught five target killers affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) during separate operations.

According to CTD officials, the arrested men include Muhammad Ali alias Ghambati, Salman alias Dhobi, Akhtar, Umairullah alias Don and Shehzad Baig.

They were trained along with two other notorious MQM notorious target killers, Shahnawaz alias Ajmal Pahari and Kashif David, by Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing in Wasan Ganj, India, the officials said.

Of them, Ali has been a close associate of Pahari, they further stated, adding that he carried out targeted killings from 1995 to 2005. They claimed he had killed a police official, Muhammad Ali, and another MQM-affiliated suspected target killer, Faisal alias Paratha, in the jurisdiction of Sharae Noor Jahan police station in 1997, as well as a member of the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek sector committee in 2005. Moreover, he had been involved in riots over linguistic disputes, they said.

Besides, the CTD officials said, Salman, Umairullah and Baig, had been involved in terrorist activities from 2010 to 2102, and were booked in multiple cases.

The apprehended men are being interrogated, the officials said.
