KCR trains to run between Orangi, City Stations from Dec 15

Encroachments along KCR's 44km-long track had been removed and fences would be installed on both sides of the track

Karachi Circular Railway's (KCR's) operations will be resumed on the 16-kilometre-long track connecting City and Orangi Stations from December 15, 2020, Karachi commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani was told during a meeting on Tuesday.

Shallwani, who was presiding over the meeting, was further informed that development and repair work on the track was underway.

Besides, he was told that encroachments along KCR's 44km-long track had been removed and fences would be installed on both sides of the track.

The meeting was informed that flyovers and underpasses would be constructed on 11 level crossings out of 24 on KCR's track. Of these, eight underpasses and flyovers will be constructed in collaboration with the Frontiers Works Organisation.

Moreover, the meeting reviewed the pace of work on the project and decided that all relevant agencies would take measures on priority basis to ensure the completion of the project at the earliest.

Sindh transport secretary Shariq Ahmed, Railways divisional superintendent Arshad Salam Khattak, municipal commissioner Syed Salahuddin, project director Amir Ali, among others, attended the meeting.
