Resources sought for promotion of children’s rights

ISLAMABAD:

Children from the Child Rights Club, an affiliated body of Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC), have demanded the government to allocate resources for the protection and promotion of children’s rights.

They made the demand made during a press conference and an awareness walk for children’s rights on the occasion of International Children’s Day at the National Press Club Islamabad.

The walk was attended by a large number of school children and children’s rights activists. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans for children’s rights. The demonstrators marched on the road in front of the National Press Club Islamabad. Earlier, speaking at the press conference on the occasion of International Children’s Day, the SPARC children demanded the federal and provincial governments to increase the allocated amount of resources to improve the situation of children’s rights in Pakistan.

Laiba Abdul Sattar highlighted the importance of increasing the amount allocated in the budget for the protection and promotion of the rights of the children. Syed Musa Khan expressed that all the children of the world have special rights and their rights need to be protected in all respects.
