After the resounding success of Mirzapur 2, the makers and streaming platform have now announced the renewal of the web series for a third season, reported the Hindustan Times.

According to Amazon Prime, almost 50% of the audience finished watching the show’s second season in just two days. Not to mention, it also achieved the feat of becoming the most-watched show on the OTT platform within seven days of its release.

Elaborating on the success of the series, producer Ritesh Sidhwani said, “The show’s massive fandom and the viewers’ magnitude of love towards the new season was seen through reactions on social media within days of its release, and we are truly humbled by the response.”

The leading actor of the hit show, Ali Fazal, who plays the infamous Guddu Bhaiyya in the series, is excited about the upcoming installment.

Speaking about Mirzapur 3, Fazal spoke to a leading daily and shared his excitement about the announcement. “Now, we have a bigger challenge - to outdo the last two seasons. I will get busy with other projects now, but we plan to shoot soon," Filmfare quoted Fazal as saying.

He further adds about his character Guddu and how his character arc has progressed so far.

“The show's writing and characters have been celebrated this time around. When I started playing the character, I knew his arc. For the first few episodes, Guddu is a broken man who has his eyes set on revenge. Over the 20 episodes, he has evolved from a careless young boy to a man with a motive. He has gone through grave emotional loss and turbulence, and yet, he has picked himself up and fought those who have wronged him. His sense of purpose after the family tragedy has struck a chord with the audience," he concluded.
