Court orders shifting of three accused to hospital

West judicial magistrate ordered the police on Tuesday to shift three accused, who were earlier sent on a two-day judicial remand, to a hospital, after they tested positive for Covid-19.

The Ittehad Town Police, Anti Car-Lifting Cell and Gulshan-e-Maymar Police had arrested the accused, Adnan, Javed Rind and Nawaz.

According to the public prosecutor, Shamim Ahmed, before the accused were tested for the coronavirus before being admitted to the prison on remand. All three of them were found infected with the coronavirus, he added.

The prosecutor said prison officials refused to let the accused enter the jail, while the court ordered that they be admitted to a hospital. He said the police officer who presented the accused had also contracted Covid-19. PPI
