The Sindh government decided on Tuesday to start providing municipal services under the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) in Hyderabad and Kotri.
The decision was taken at the 13th meeting of the SSWMB. The meeting was headed by Sindh chief secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah.
The participants of the meeting were told that the SSWMB received a letter from the Hyderabad commissioner, seeking its municipal services in Hyderabad, while the Kotri Municipal Corporation had signed a resolution for the purpose.
Shah said that 200 acres of land had been allocated for a landfill site at M9 Motorway in Jamshoro. “The landfill site will be established in line with modern standards,” he said. He further announced that the SSWMB’s municipal services would also be launched in Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad after Hyderabad.
