Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday held a one-on-one meeting in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
According to the PPP media cell, the meeting between the two leaders was held at a local hotel in Nagar Khas, during which matters related to the current political scenario were discussed.
Both leaders stayed in the same hotel following the day-long activities for G-B polls, scheduled to be held on November 15.
After the one-on-one meeting, another meeting took place between the leaders of the two parties.
Senator Sherry Rehman and Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar represented PPP, whereas, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal, former information minister Pervaiz Rasheed, PML-N Gilgit-Baltistan president Hafiz Hafeezur-Rehman and party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb represented PML-N in the meeting.
Addressing a public gathering in Nagar Khas earlier in the day, Maryam said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was obsessed with political victimisation of opposition leaders.
The daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is suppressing the voices of its opponents. "The PTI government will soon be sent packing," she predicted.
Maryam, who recently kicked off her election campaign in the mountainous region amid mass defection in the party’s regional chapter, also said: “The one sitting in prime minister's chair thinks that there is no inflation in the country but the people of Pakistan are suffering due to this pressing issue. Nation is cursing Imran Khan for not taking care of poverty-stricken people."
The one who has created problems in livelihood does not deserve people’s votes, she added. "PM Imran is surrounded by corrupt leaders who are looting Pakistan."
Meanwhile, Bilawal, while addressing an election rally in Bargo area yesterday, said that his party would form the government in G-B and as well as at the Centre.
PPP chief said that no one should even think of stealing votes in Gilgit-Baltistan election. "I am here and will not let anyone steal the votes because I will protect your votes," he promised.
Bilawal also asked the youth to continue the hard work till November 15 and bring elderly and women to the polling stations.
