Police book tanker driver in hit-and-run case

The North Nazimabad Police booked on Tuesday the driver of the water tanker that rammed into a bank in North Nazimabad on Monday, leaving one dead and five others severely injured.

The water tanker had skidded down Kati Pahari, reportedly, due to brake failure, running people over and damaging several vehicles along the way.

The case against the driver has been registered on state's behalf under Sections 337 (causing hurt to any person), 320 (unintentional murder by rash or irrational driving) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs50) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The investigation police have been assigned the case's probe, while the water tanker's driver, who had fled after the accident, hadn't been arrested till the filing of this report.
