SOPs implementation committees formed

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi district administration has formed implementation committees at police station levels for ensuring enforcement of coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of novel coronavirus.

The measure has been taken following the rise in the pandemic virus recorded during the second wave.

Rawalpindi Additional Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Ahmed Jhappa told The Express Tribune that the administration has formulated joint teams with the police to ensure the implementation of SOPs.

Regarding the functioning, the official said that the teams would ascertain that people wore facemasks at public places.

Jhappa asserted that the violators would be imposed with fines indiscriminately.

Until now, over 7,500 people have contracted novel coronavirus in Rawalpindi while over 400 have succumbed to it. Some 7,100 people have successfully recovered after contracting the virus.

As per the latest reports, some 60 infected patients are receiving treatment at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH). At least eight of them are on ventilators.

The administration has apparently failed to ensure that people follow the precautionary guidelines during the second wave of novel coronavirus pandemic.

Health experts have warned that the second wave could prove dangerous than the first one.
