Bollywood heartthrob Milind Soman has been booked in Goa for 'obscenity' in a recent Instagram picture, reported Firstpost. He had shared a shot of himself running nude on a beach in Goa to mark his 55th birthday last week.

The complaint filed by political outfit Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) said Soman's picture projected Goa in a wrong manner. Goa Police have registered a case against the model for allegedly promoting obscenity after he recently posted a picture of himself running nude on a beach in the state to mark his birthday, a police official said on Saturday.

The case was registered on Friday, a day after Goa Suraksha Manch lodged the complaint. "Soman has been booked under IPC section 294 (obscene act in a public place) and section 67 of the Information and Technology Act after the complaint by Goa Suraksha Manch," Superintendent of Police (South) Pankaj Kumar Singh said. The GSM has alleged that Soman had indulged in obscenity at a public place.

It also said that the picture projected Goa in a wrong manner. The news comes days after police had arrested actor-model Poonam Pandey and her husband on Thursday for allegedly trespassing on government property and shooting an "objectionable" video at a dam in Canacona town, South Goa.

Earlier, film-maker Apurva Asrani has called out the stark difference in the way netizens have reacted to images of Milind Soman and Poonam Pandey. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "I guess we are kinder to our nude men than to our nude women."
