What inspired you to start Printz Charming Home?
Initially I wanted to go to an art school because I always had a passion for arts and textile but I had to complete my finance degree and join my family business. But over a period of time I realised that I wanted to do something more creative, something which involved textile and designing and I did not have an interest in designing clothes, hence I started playing with fabrics by arranging tableware and home accessories at a dinner party for a friend and so the journey began. I realised there was a gap of good bed linen in Pakistan, we would normally go abroad and get bed linen whereas Pakistan is the eighth largest textile exporter in Asia, fourth largest producer and third largest consumer of cotton. I was lucky to have access and I wanted to provide luxury bed linen and home accessories to a client who has an eye for good stitching quality and finishing. My forte is bridal bedding and luxury line of bed linen and home accessories.
How does a designer bed sheet set add design element to your room?
Designer bed sheet sets make any room’s interior picture perfect. It adds character to your surroundings. Bridal being my forte, clients comes to us with their budget and we create a mood board and customise accordingly. We embellish the bed linen, use the finest of fabric like Chantilly lace, silk, jacquard, organza and satins to make the linen according to our client’s requirements.
Is there a way to choose a right bed linen like sweat-free in the summer and cocooned when it’s cooler?
Pakistan’s climate doesn’t allow us much to use any other fabric than pure cotton and our country makes the finest of cottons, so we take the best quality cotton and curate the bed linen. All medical research now proves that we need a good eight hour solid sleep in order to function normally. For that we need to invest in good quality linen which will help in providing a more relaxed sleep. Using pure and organic or natural fabric in bed linen improve the quality of sleep as some psychologists also stress on investing in good quality sheets.
How can one create stylish bedspreads by including both affordable and luxurious bedding from your line?
We customise according to clients requirements which include both affordable and luxurious bedding line. Clients choose the colour, size, fabric, embellishments and then we create the entire range. We make customised sets with measurements and that is our specialisation.
Bridal linen sets are your specialty - what are the latest bridal linen trends for this season?
I personally believe in very simple, straight lines and work in basic four colours of white, crème, beige, grey and some shades of pastels. Every season I try to bring variation in my bedding collection. It can be a centimeter thick or an inch less but I remain within straight lines and that is why our hotel collection is very popular and also luxurious. For something minimal which is guaranteed to complement any bedroom, neutral hues are recommend by us. Sometimes a client requires us to make sheets in darker shades like maroon or red but I try to incorporate colour in our basic solid colour range or just add a contrasting cushion to add a pop of colour and matching embellishments but nothing looks more inviting at the end of a long day than crisp white bed linen.
Any advice on how to wash and dry the bed linen so as to ensure the longevity?
Dry clean is the best option but I also recommend to hand wash the linen. Wash linen in cold or warm water. It is recommended best to let them dry naturally under a shady spot or tumble dry on low heat and iron on medium. Softeners can also be used but it is important not to use harsh detergent or bleaches as this can leave marks. Linen is a fabric which gets softer and more luminous the more it’s washed.
