Police arrested 2,183 proclaimed offenders (POs) and 1,256 court absconders (CAs) during a crackdown launched across 11 districts of South Punjab in October.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Additional Inspector General South Punjab Capt (retd) Zaffar Iqbal said he ordered an operation against criminals across the region during which 245 proclaimed offenders of category A and 1,938 of category B had been arrested.
Police apprehended 1,256 court absconders including 47 of category A and 1,209 of category B.
He highlighted that police registered a total of 996 cases of illegal weapon possession and recovered 698 pistols, 120 guns, 40 rifles, 37 Kalashnikovs, 36 revolvers and several bullets from the accused.
