The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Tuesday launched its first-ever online training for imams and religious scholars.

IIUI President Dr Hathal Homoud Al-Otaibi inaugurated the course at the varsity’s Dawah Academy on Tuesday.

Dr Al-Otaibi lauded the role of Islamic scholars for spreading peace and tolerance in society. Talking about the sanctity of mosques, he urged scholars to counter the negative image and false propaganda against the religion.

The IIUI president added that social media should be used positively, adding that it can serve as a great tool for dawah. He expressed that ulema and religious scholars can play a vital role in uplifting the youth.

Later, the Dawah Academy Director-General Dr Tahir Mehmood shared the objectives for the online course. Programme Coordinator Hafiz Ahmed Hammad hoped that as many as 100 participants from across the country will enrol in the 10-day course.
