RAWALPINDI:

Police and rescue teams will together reach the accident sites and crime scenes onward as the government has established a joint control room of police and Rescue 1122.

The officials said that the measure had been taken to boost coordination between both institutions. The joint control room would also enable the police to trace fake callers to Rescue 1122.

In this regard, Rescue 1122 District Officer (DO) Ali Hasan said that earlier, the police and Rescue 1122 had separate and independent control rooms. Owing to this, he added that it sometimes got difficult to inform the police about the law and order situation in an emergency situation.

DO said that the idea for establishing a joint control room was extended by the Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Office. Further, sources told The Express Tribune that the control room would be operated from the CPO office and the police would spend resources on it. It added that additional counters have been established in the police control room at the CPO office.
