After a gap of 18 months, the Rawalpindi Excise and Taxation department has received some 14,000 computerised registration cards of vehicles.
However, the department is yet to issue registration plates of over 2,000 vehicles for which the owners have been waiting for around the past two years.
Meanwhile, the excise department recorded a loss of some Rs 210 million between July and October due to a slump in the registration of new vehicles and payment of token tax and transfer fees amid the coronavirus situation.
Sources in the department said that smart vehicle registration cards would now be delivered to the Rawalpindi excise department every month from Lahore.
