PAKPATTAN:

A 32-year-old woman was gang-raped and murdered in Bhila village. The body was kept in an iron container to hide the crime.

Police said Hifzan bibi was a close relative of the slain victim. She took the victim to her house where three men gang raped her. Later, the suspects strangled her to death after the rape.

The body was hidden in an iron container.

When the victim regained consciousness, the accused strangled her again to ensure her death. They wanted to make the body disappear but they reportedly could not get a chance to hide it.

When the victim did not return home in the evening, her family asked Hifzan, but she did not tell them anything.

Later, the victim’s family informed the police.

Police claimed to have arrested Hifzan bibi and recovered the victim’s body from the iron container on her identification.

After the postmortem at the district hospital, police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim’s brother Muhammad Mustafa.

Cases of rape cum murder were not uncommon across the province.

On October 1, an eight-year-old boy, the son of a labourer, was allegedly raped and murdered in Chunian. The victim went missing after he left his home during the evening and never returned.

Tarkhani police arrested a man a few days later for allegedly raping and killing the minor boy in Sammundri.

On June 7, a seven-year-old boy was killed after being abducted and raped two days prior to his murder in D-Type Colony area, Faisalabad. The victim, a resident of the Allama Iqbal Colony area, in the jurisdiction of D-Type Colony police station, went to a shop on June 5 and went missing. His body was found by local residents after it was thrown in a canal in Dijkot area.
