Murder: bullets shot at woman sent to PFSA

20-year-old woman was killed in police encounter

The Punjab Police high-ups have sent the bullets recovered from a crime scene of an encounter between Dolphin Squad officials and suspected robbers near Punjab University to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) for analysis.

The analysis was meant to check whether the victim died of firing by police or the suspected robbers. The encounter had claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman identified as Fatima. She had received two bullet injuries, one on her neck and the other in her back.

The victim reportedly worked in a call centre and was en route to her workplace while riding a motorcycle with her father. The father of the victim in his complaint before police said that as they reached near Government Science College on Wahdat Road when they observed three motorcyclists and a car chasing them.

The car hit the two-wheeler and the victims fell down. The police managed to nab one of the suspects while the other three attempted an escape. Meanwhile, an exchange of firing between police and the suspects ensued.

During this encounter, the victim Fatima sustained a bullet injury and died. Police arrested the three suspects identified as Waseem Ahmad, Faisal Mehmood and Arshad. Police said that the suspects were Category A proclaimed offenders (PO).
