KARACHI:

Workers of the newly reinstated Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) have not been paid salaries for the past two months, since the commissionerate system was revived back in June.

Enraged, KMC workers of City District Government Karachi have decided to launch a protest campaign in all towns to air their grievances from August 11.

Chairman Karachi Municipal Trade Union Alliance Zulfikar Shah said that this had turned into a serious matter as 3,500 employees had not been paid for June and July and this was making the face dire financial constraints.

Despite repeated assurances by commissioner-turned-DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, no decisive measures were taken to release the salaries of these low-wage employees.

Shah said the pensioners have also been facing financial difficulties as their pensions for the last two months have not been released.
