Minister approves Rs6.14b budget for NMU

Reviews health projects in South Punjab

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid approved a budget worth Rs6.14 billion of Nishtar Medical University (NMU) for the year 2020-21 in the 8th syndicate meeting of the university on Wednesday.

NMU Vice-Chancellor Ahmed Ejaz Masood, South Punjab Health Secretary Ajmal Bhatti, Dr Ghulam Mustafa, Dr Iftikhar Hussain, MPA Mohammad Salim Akhtar, MPA Sabeen Gul, Industrialist Jalaluddin Rumi, NMU Medical Superintendent Dr Shahid Mahmood Bukhari, Multan Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr Asif Ali Khan and other officials were present in the meeting.

NMU registrar presented the agenda items of the meeting. The participants prayed for eternal blessings for the late NMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha who passed away due to Covid-19.

The minister approved the decisions taken in the 8th syndicate meeting. The meeting approved a four-year BS Nursing Course and internship programme in different departments of NMU.

“The Pakistan Tehreeke Insaaf (PTI) government has granted their legitimate rights to the people of south Punjab,” said the minister.

“We are trying to provide good quality healthcare services to the people at their doorstep,” she said.
