RAWALPINDI:

After a video showing the employer brutally beating their minor domestic worker went viral on the internet, police in Rawalpindi on Sunday rescued the 11-year-old boy.

The Airport police said that after the video surfaced, they started searching for the person who had recorded it to trace where the incident took place. After confirming the location from the video’s owner, who was a neighbour of the house where the incident took place, a police squad raided a house in the Gulraiz area on Sunday and recovered the minor.

During initial investigations, officers said that the boy told them that he hailed from Okara city. Further, he said that he worked at Muhammad Shehzad’s house to support his family.

The police said that they have established contact with the victim’s parents and he will be handed over to them after completing legal formalities.

They added that action will be taken against the boy’s employer after they receive a report of his medical examination.

This is not the first incident where minor domestic workers were not only found working in the houses of the twin cities but of the employers beating and torturing these children.

Earlier in June, an eight-year-old domestic worker was beaten to death by her employers in the Rawa area after she allegedly freed some expensive parrots which they bred at home.
