LAHORE:

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that some elements have conspired to weaken the armed forces but the nation stands united with the defence institutions.

Addressing a seminar on the late Hakeem Said's services, he said the opposition's agenda had been exposed and the nation had rejected it.

The governor said the opposition was fighting for political and personal interests instead of protecting the national interest. By criticising the national institutions, the opposition leaders were proving that they did not care about the national interest but their own interests.

Replying to a question while talking to the media, the governor said the people had rejected the protest of the opposition. No matter how many meetings they hold, the government would not come under pressure, the general elections will be held in 2023, the people stand by the government, which will continue its mission of serving the nation, he said.

He said protest was the right of the opposition but the path taken by it against the institutions would not be tolerated under any circumstances and the rule of law would be ensured in all cases.
