Accused escapes from court after bail rejection

The accused in a case pertaining to the harassment and intimidation of a National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases doctor escaped from court premises on Thursday after a local court rejected his bail plea.

The accused, Syed Zaid, was presented before the South sessions court at the Karachi City Court.

When the court denied him bail, he fled the premises.

A case pertaining to blackmail and harassment has been registered against Zaid at the Saddar police station. He allegedly blackmailed a female doctor and extorted Rs600,000 from her.

Separately, a local court remanded a woman for harassing and blackmailing men.

The accused, Sumera, was presented before the East judicial magistrate, who was informed by the investigation officer that a man named Tahir had registered a case against her. The IO added that Sameera had used photographs to blackmail people, while videos had also been obtained from her cellphone.
