RAWALPINDI:

People who stand to lose their lands for the construction of the Ring Road in Rawalpindi have been promised ‘fair’ compensation for their properties, paying them the market rates.

This was promised on Tuesday by Rawalpindi Chief Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood.

Addressing a meeting which reviewed the progress of the project, Mehmood said that it aims to enhance the standard of living for residents of the garrison city by improving economic activities.

Mehmood critically analysed the project’s targets and directed the Project Management Unit (PMU) to provide detailed information on land acquisition. He also directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to take private housing societies, built along the route, on board for financing interchanges in the project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
