The Rawalpindi district administration has deployed personnel of Special Branch police to identify profiteers and hoarders in the district.
The cops in civvies will spread out in the markets and pick up reports of shopkeepers selling daily use items above the official rates. The plainclothesmen will forward their reports to the price magistrates who will raid the shops to take immediate action and impose fine.
Traders said they were already in distress due to masked Tiger Force men who come and demand gratitude, and now the special branch cops will skin them too.
Instead of harassing the shopkeepers, the government should take action against wholesale dealers, they said.
