With a host of accidents and mishaps taking place in the country and abroad, senior engineers on Sunday emphasised the importance of focusing on safety measures during the construction process.
This was stressed as the Institution of Engineers Pakistan - Islamabad-Rawalpindi Centre (IEP-RIC) held an awareness-session for young engineers on Sunday to highlight their responsibilities in promoting the ‘safety culture’ in construction and industrial development. Engr Dr Khawar Naveed, the former director-general of nuclear power projects at PAEC, shared various fatal incidents which took place due to the lack of proper safety measures during the construction process. He suggested that accidents can be averted if the rules and standard procedures at managerial and individual levels are adopted.
