HYDERABAD:

The abandoned central park of Hyderabad, Rani Bagh - the only such recreational facility in the city - has once again drawn the attention of authorities.

Hyderabad commissioner Muhammad Abbass Baloch visited the park on Saturday and directed the relevant officials to take steps for its restoration on priority basis.

Lamenting the condition of Abbass Bhai park, open air theatre, zoo and fun-land facilities, he ordered officials to renovate zoo cages too.

Later, a meeting discussed a proposal for beautification works in Hyderabad, being prepared by the Centre of Excellence in Arts and Design at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. The plan will be financed by the provincial government.

Assistant professor Fahad Shams Nizamani said the proposal would be submitted in around one month. After its approval, the centre will sign an agreement with the district administration for the beautification and restoration of Rani Bagh and the city as a whole.
