ISLAMABAD:

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi on Friday requested the Ministry of Interior to cancel former premier Nawaz Sharif’s passport and national identity card.

In a letter written to the interior ministry, the receipt of which was confirmed by it, the anti-corruption watchdog adopted the stance that the arrest warrant for the PML-N chief had been issued by a court and that the process for his proclamation had also started.

“In view thereof, copies of the said court order and perpetual non-bailable warrant of arrest are forwarded for processing of blacklisting/cancellation of the passport and blockage/impounding of CNIC of the accused through the Ministry of Interior,” read the letter.

It requested the ministry to cancel Sharif’s travel documents and blacklist his passport and national identity card.

The anti-graft buster also asked the interior ministry to approach Interpol to bring the PML-N supremo back.
