Popular actor Mehwish Hayat and ace couturier Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, popularly known as HSY, have landed the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee 2020.
The Load Wedding actor took to Instagram to confirm the news, “I am honoured to be part of the Oscar Selection Committee for this year alongside our own two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy."
Hayat added that she was looking forward to seeing the nominated films and choosing one as Pakistan’s official submission to the Oscars. “At least this is one way that we can be putting a positive image of our country and highlighting our talent on the world stage,” she concluded.
On the other hand, designer HSY, who also landed the coveted position, announced the news on his Instagram followed by other social media platforms. “Humbled and proud to be part of the Oscar committee for 2020," he wrote.
Giving a shout-out to other key players in the committee, HSY added, "The committee will be chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and includes film director Asadul Haq, actor Mehwish Hayat and musician Faisal Kapadia.”
