Another woman ‘gang raped’ in city

Punjab inspector general of police and Lahore CCPO had taken notice of the incident

As Punjab Police were yet to arrest the prime accused of the Lahore-Sialkot motorway gang rape incident, despite passing of over 20 days, another woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the city on Friday.

As per details, the victim approached police alleging that she, a resident of Sheikhupura, had been called in by the two suspects identified as Hassan and Irfan for a job interview. When she reached the designated location, they took her to a hotel near Lahore Railway Station.

The suspects subjected her to sexual violence, she continued. A case had been registered in Naulakha police station against the suspects. Punjab inspector general of police and Lahore CCPO had taken notice of the incident.

Cases of sexual violence were rampant across the province.

A day earlier, a woman was allegedly gang raped by six people in Morkhanda area of Sheikhupura. Reportedly, she was travelling on a passenger bus that broke down on Jaranwala Road. She was waiting on the roadside for another bus when the suspects in a car reached there and offered her a ride, which she accepted. However, the accused took her to a nearby village where six of them assaulted her. Later, they dumped her in the fields and fled.

According to a report, as many as 1,005 rape cases of women were registered during the first six months of the year.
