Police gave up lives to eradicate polio: IGP

The IGP urged parents to ensure that their children get vaccinated

The Inspector General (IGP) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police Dr Sanaullah Abbasi on Monday visited the Charsadda district and launched the anti-polio drive there.

The IGP visited the Women and Children's Hospital in Rajar Tehsil of Charsadda. During the visit, the hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Farhad Khan gave IGP Dr Abbasi a special briefing about the ongoing anti-polio campaign in the district.

Later Dr Abbasi administered the polio vaccine to children under the age of five in the hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said that the eradication of polio is a mission and to fulfil this mission, they must all combine their efforts.

The IGP urged parents to ensure that their children, who are under the age of five, are vaccinated against polio so that the crippling virus can be eradicated from the area.

The IGP assured to provide all possible support from his department for the ongoing campaign and directed stringent security for polio teams.

He added that the health department and security forces should fully cooperate for optimal results.

The IGP further said that for the peaceful conduct of the anti-polio drive, several police officers have already rendered the ultimate sacrifice and that brave officers of the provincial police force will continue to render any sacrifice to secure the future of the nation.
