ACE summons 44 sugar mills owners

ACE will try to compensate against injustices caused

LAHORE:

Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) summoned record of 44 sugar mills and their owners. ACE, around two weeks ago, had launched an awareness campaign against complaints of sugar mill owners. So far ACE had received at least 2,507 complaints. The provincial anti-graft body had received as many as 1,363 complaints about lower rates as compared to the prices determined by the government. Out of the total, 641 complaints were related to non-payment of dues.

At least 503 complaints were related to undue cuts. Most of the complaints received were from South Punjab. ACE DG Gohar Nafees said that ACE had been arranging open courts for sugarcane growers. In this regard, the DG stated that they cannot tolerate exploitation of the peasants at any cost. He added that ACE will try to compensate against injustices caused to the peasants of the province.
