825 ‘drug peddlers’ held in a month

LAHORE:

Lahore Police claimed to have arrested as many as 825 drug peddlers over the last month. Police officials said on Wednesday that more than eight kgs of heroin, 386.5 kgs of hashish, more than one kg of ice, 45.8 kgs of opium and 10,023 litres of liquor were recovered from the suspected drug peddlers and bootleggers during last month’s operation against illicit substances. Lahore DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan said that all the divisional SPs had been given special task to arrest drug dealers and criminals involved in heinous crimes. Special teams had been constituted to nab proclaimed offenders particularly drug peddlers involved in selling narcotics around educational institutions.
