Couple succumbs to burn injuries

A couple who had sustained burn injuries when a fire erupted at an apartment in Garden on Tuesday succumbed to their injuries on Wednesday. The husband, 25-year-old Raheel and his wife, 22-year-old Asma were shifted to the burns ward of Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital after the incident. The doctor had said that 70 per cent of Raheel’s body had been burned, while Asma, who was also pregnant, sustained even worse burns. According to the police, an internet device installed in their room had caught fire following a short circuit and the blaze had engulfed the air conditioning unit, which exploded. The fire subsequently spread in the room where the couple was sleeping.
