Rangers, police arrest 32 suspects

23 suspects, including three absconders, nabbed in combing operation in Memon Goth

The police and Rangers claimed to have arrested 32 suspects involved in attacks on the police, sectarian riots, street crimes and drug peddling in separate operations in the city on Wednesday.

As many as 23 suspects, including three absconders, were arrested during a joint combing operation by the police and Rangers in Memon Goth.

The law enforcers also confiscated eight kilogrammes of hashish, ammunition, weapons and motorcycles from the suspects’ possession.

According to a police spokesperson, eight of the arrested suspects had a past criminal record and their details had been fetched, while three suspects, Imran, Luqman and Rizwan, had previously been declared absconders by the courts. The suspects had previously been arrested for several serious crimes.

The spokesperson added that the confiscated weapons had been sent for forensic analysis, while police were carrying out further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Ibrahim Hyderi police arrested a suspect involved in street crimes and confiscated weapons, stolen mobile phones and Rs8,000 in cash from his possession.

Moreover, the Sukhan police arrested four suspects for allegedly trying to occupy land illegally, and seized equipment used for construction from their possession.

Police registered a case against the suspects, namely Riasat, Khursheed, Hassan Ali and Nadir Ali.

The Sukhan police also arrested three suspected drug peddlers, who had past criminal records and had confessed to crimes.
