RAWALPINDI:

Residents of the two cantonment boards, Chaklala and Rawalpindi, will get a 50 per cent rebate in their property assessment tax.

The relief has been announced under a new scheme whereby the assessment tax on residential properties will only be charged at a rate of 15 per cent, instead of the usual 30 per cent.

The rate for commercial properties has also been cut from 30 per cent to just 15 per cent.

The relief was approved by the Cantonment Boards President Brigadier Aijaz Kiyani during a meeting on Sunday.

He maintained that the special concession has been granted only for the ongoing fiscal year 2020-21 due to the impacts of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
