Working models: Flood victims move into new homes in model village

The village is the first fully functional model village.

Chief minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his pleasure at the timely construction of a model village for flood victims in Muzaffargarh.


The village is the first fully functional model village and the chief minister also distributed prizes among the builders and workers who had spent months on the construction of the village.   Sharif awarded Rs50,000 to the Muzaffargarh DCO Tahir Khursheed, former executive district officer (EDO) (revenue) and district officer Zafarul Islam were awarded Rs30,000 each and a three-day stay in PC Bhurban. The new Mullah Meeran model village is now complete and the Punjab government has constructed 250 houses in the village, as well as a school, shop and mosque.

The chief minister handed over keys to 250 families on Sunday and flood victims in the district have begun moving into their new homes. “I am extremely thankful to the Muzaffargarh workers who have completed this village on schedule. It is wonderful to see these people finally have a roof over their head. We are working to complete the remaining model villages on time,” the chief minister said.
