Charles Dance would sign petition to remake ‘GoT' finale

Like many of us, Tywin Lannister was also ‘underwhelmed’ by the ending

Like the rest of us, Charles Dance has admitted that he too, is willing to sign the petition calling for the remake of the 'underwhelming' final season of Game of Thrones, reported PopCulture.

In 2019, the popular fantasy series came to end, with its mind-boggling finale dividing viewers to the extent that a Change.org petition surfaced, demanding for the show be remade with 'competent writers'. Now Dance, who played Lannister family's patriarch Tywin Lannistor is on board with the idea and has told the outlet that “If there was a petition, I would sign it."

“I continued to watch the whole series even after I’d been killed off in the lavatory, because I just thought it’s a fantastic television show, you know,” the outlet quoted him as saying. “There were storylines (where) I wanted to know what was going to happen to these people! I know that the finale satisfied a lot of people. It also disappointed a lot of people, and I’m afraid I am in the latter camp," he revealed.

According to the actor, the biggest issue with the ending was Bran being appointed King of Westeros by the Great Council, adding that he thought writers David Benioff and DB Weiss had done a 'phenomenal' job up until that point. “For the whole thing to end as a committee, I just thought, ‘Hmm, no,’” he said. “I would say I was somewhat underwhelmed by (that).”

The petition, which states that Game of Thrones “deserves a final season that makes sense”, has currently been signed by more than 1.8 million people. The ending and its backlash are still being discussed a year later, with Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster also admitting last week that he had “almost wanted to donate to” the campaign himself.

“I think everyone had their own opinion,” he said, according to The Independent. “I find the world of fandom really interesting. Everyone wanted something specific and different from what they got. It’s a combination of – you imagine an ending; but also, I think if you’re a hardcore fan, it was really upsetting that it ended. You lived with this for eight seasons. I think there was a real fear that was going to go away.”
