Nuclear experts on Thursday called for treating the new Nuclear Threat Initiative’s (NTI) nuclear security index with caution after it categorized Pakistan as the ‘most improved country with weapons-usable nuclear materials’, so as not to accord recognition to it.
Speaking at a webinar on ‘NTI Index Report 2020’, organised by the Strategic Vision Institute (SVI), speakers said that the report saw Pakistan improve its overall score by seven points to be ranked 19, a notch above India, which fell to 20. NTI said that Pakistan made most of the improvement in the Security and Control Measures category because of its passage of new regulations.
