ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan has won the world record for preparing the largest national flag using balloons.

The flag, which had been made by the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC), using more than 60,000 green and white balloons, measured 40 feet long and 60 feet wide, had been installed in the National Assembly hall last year.

On Wednesday, Parliamentarian Dr Ramesh Kumar presented the certificate awarded by the Guinness Book of World Record to National Assembly (NA) Speaker Dr Asad Qaiser.

Hailing the Hindu community, the NA speaker observed that the role of minorities in the development of the country was laudable.

He expressed the hope that the minorities living in Pakistan would continue to play their role to enlighten the name of the country.

“Dr Ramesh Kuman has set a world record by preparing the largest flag using balloons in Pakistan’s National Assembly,” Qaiser said.

“This is an expression of their affection and bonding with the country. The entire Pakistani nation pays regards to their sentiments and love,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kumar remarked that it was his heartfelt desire to make a national flag with the help of balloons in the National Assembly hall on August 14 last year and dedicate it to the country.

He attributed the recognition by the Guinness Book to the people of the country and expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly speaker.
