Suspected killers of multiple family members presented in court

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police have recovered the guns which were reportedly used to gun down nine members of a family, including women and children, in a gang rivalry in the Chauntra area of the city, a spokesperson stated on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Chauntra police presented the suspects in an anti-terrorism court (ATC). They are accused of spraying women and children with bullets after breaking into their house.

A court had previously granted police the physical remand of the suspects to further their investigation. During questioning, police officials said, the suspects disclosed the location of the guns suspected to be used in the attack.

Information provided by the suspects allegedly led to the recovery of three Kalashnikovs from Danish Nawaz and Akram Nawaz, who are the sons of the main culprit, Rab Nawaz, and his nephew Muhammad Aqib.

The location of a rifle was also disclosed by the prime suspect’s brother, Muhammad Ashraf.

Police officials said that they continue to conduct raids to arrest the remaining suspects including Nawaz, and assured that the culprits will not be allowed to escape. They added that the suspects of the barbaric incident would be brought to justice at all cost.
