KHANEWAL:

Owners of three petrol pumps and two marriage halls were fined by the district administration on Thursday. Action was launched against petrol pumps and marriage halls working without no-objection certificate (NOC) in different parts of the city.

An official spokesman said that three petrol pump owners were fined worth Rs200,000 and two marriage halls Rs600,000 for not having adequate drainage system as decided by the District Planning and Design Committee. The committee reviewed cases about granting NOCs to 16 petrol pumps and marriage halls. DC Zaheer Abbas Sherazi took a firm stand that any petrol pump or marriage hall operating without standard parameters would be shut forever.

He said leaving a broad parking area outside marriage halls was a compulsory condition before awarding NOC to run the business. “Both marriage halls and petrol pumps must observe SOPs for smooth working,” the DC remarked.
