Sindh CM puts MPAs, advisors in charge of rain relief activities

Duties have been assigned in 27 provincial districts ahead of oncoming monsoon spell

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in light of the Met department's rain advisory notification, assigned rain relief monitoring activities to provincial ministers, advisers and special assistants in at least 27 districts.

According to the weather advisory, strong monsoon currents are likely to approach Sindh, starting today. The spell is expected to last till August 8 (Saturday).

Widespread rain showers, with isolated heavy rainfall, are expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Tando Mohammad Khan, Jamshoro, Dadu and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Scattered rain-thunderstorms are also expected in Sukkur, Larkana, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Kashmore and Ghotki from August 7 to August 8.

Keeping in mind the weather forecast, the chief minister ordered government representatives to move to the districts they have been assigned duties in to supervise relief activities. CM Murad also asked the government officials to keep him apprised of the situation.

Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has been put in charge of monitoring the relief work throughout the province.

In Karachi, district West will be looked after by Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, district East by special assistant to CM Sindh Rashid Rabbani. District South will be looked after by Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, whereas district Central will have Sindh Women Development Minister Shehla Raza as in charge.

Special assistant to CM Waqar Mehdi will be looking after affairs in district Malir, whereas Sindh Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Chawla has been assigned district Korangi.

In addition, Sindh Minister for Mines and Mineral Development Mir Shabbir Bijarani has been appointed to look after relief work in Hyderabad, whereas Sindh Education Minister Dr Azra Pechuho has been assigned district Shaheed Benazirabad.
