For the first time in the history of the city, the district administration has decided to shut down all cemeteries and shrines of the federal capital on Eidul Azha.
In a notification issued by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Thursday, to prevent the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic from spreading, all shrines and cemeteries in the city will remain closed during the Eid holidays.
People will only be allowed into cemeteries for funeral prayers and burial.
'No decision to reopen shrines'
In the notification issued by ICT Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat, all recreational spots and roads leading to such spots, such as the Murree Expressway, Margalla Hills, hotels, picnic points, and hill stations such as Lake View Park, Daman-e-Koh, Islamabad Zoo, Jasmine Garden, Shahdara Picnic Point and others will remain closed during the eid holidays.
