On the directives of Punjab government, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has established 293 union council camps to redress complaints and distribute 1.7 million biodegradable waste collection bags on Eidul Azha.
According to a spokesperson of LWMC, the organisation has prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure cleanliness on Eid.
The spokesperson further said that the citizens can call on the LWMC helpline or use mobile application ‘Clean Lahore’ for registering their waste related complaints.”
LWMC Managing Director (MD) Muhammad Aslam Rao said the company had successfully executed its pre-Eid cleanliness drive in which all major mosques and Eidgahs were washed.
LWMC struggles to keep the city clean
“In the ongoing cleanliness operation, the LWMC lifted more than 14,000 tonnes of solid waste within 48 hours from every nook and corner of the city,” he remarked.
The LWMC MD appealed to all citizens to ensure proper use of environment friendly waste bags and dispose offal in the prescribed manner.
He vowed to keep the city clean on all three days of Eid and said he would strictly monitor waste management by the company in the field as well as from the control room.
“Any negligence of any sort by any staff member will not be tolerated and punitive action will be taken against those found guilty,” he warned.
