Man held for murdering brother

Weapon used in the crime also recovered from accused, case registered

FAISALABAD:

Police have arrested a man who shot dead his elder brother on Thursday.

The body was handed over to the heirs after post-mortem.

Police said Ghulam Abbas, resident of of 511/2 GB area of Mamun Kanjan was suspected by his brother Nasir of having relations his wife.

A quarrel reportedly occurred between the two brothers over the mater, during which Nasir took out a 30-bore pistol and shot Abbas.

As a result, Abbas was severely injured and he died on the way to the hospital.

Police handed over the body of the deceased to his heirs after postmortem and arrested the accused along with the murder weapon. A case was registered against the accused.

Three POs in murder case arrested

Several other cases of murder of family members for various reasons have been reported in the area in the past.

A man killed his brother over a land dispute on April 1, while his sister-in-law and nephew were seriously injured. Reportedly, the accused Abdullah, along with his accomplices, attacked his brother Riaz Yaqoob in Chak No 278G, a village in the jurisdiction of Rodala police station over a land dispute, when they were cutting fodder in the fields.

The accused’s brother Riaz, sister-in-law Nazira Bibi and nephew Tayyab were critically injured in the attack.

They were shifted to Rural Health Centre Satiana where Riaz succumbed to his injuries. Nazira Bibi and Tayyab sustained severe injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital after medical assistance by Rescue 1122. Police took the body into custody and shifted it to the hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident on July 14, a man shot dead his brother-in-law and injured two other family members over a domestic dispute.

Police took the corpse into their custody and shifted it to the hospital for post-mortem examination, whereas the injured were admitted for treatment.
