Valuables worth thousands of rupees were gutted in four incidents of fire in the provincial metropolis on Tuesday.
The first case was reported in Shalimar Steel Mill area on Band Road, the second in a private bank on Bedian Road, third in a house in Iqbal Town and the fourth in a transformer near Tolinton Market.
People present nearby tried to extinguish the fires before calling the rescue teams to douse the uncontrollable blazes.
Firefighters reached the spots on information and extinguished the fires. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incidents.
According to the Consolidated Report of Emergency Calls and Rescue Operations in Punjab, as many as 36,817 incidents of fire were reported during October 10, 2004 to July 21 this year.
