KARACHI:

Fear gripped traders and shopkeepers in Kharadar's old city area as two among them received extortion chits, allegedly by Lyari gangsters, on Monday.

The chits were sent to vendors selling dry fruits and grains, including rice and pulses.

According to Kharadar Police Station SHO Ahsan Zulfiqar, a man, on a cycle, gave the chits to the vendors, demanding Rs200,000 from the one selling dry fruits and Rs100,000 from the seller of grains.

The chit given to the dry fruits seller reads, "We call on you to fulfil our request. You must pay Rs200,000 by 6pm on Monday otherwise you would face serious consequences. Before closing the business on the day, keep the money in a paper bag enveloped in a shopper and place it beside your car at 6pm. Our men are keeping a watch on you. Waja gang."
