100 fair price shops set up

RAWALPINDI:

To ensure residents can purchase wheat flour at the stipulated rates of Rs860 for a 20-kilogramme bag, the Rawalpindi District Administration has set up over 100 fair price shops across the district.

A district administration spokesperson said that Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq had directed to ensure the uninterrupted supply of flour and other essential items to residents, particularly through the fair price shops and wholesale markets. Further, he said that shopkeepers have been warned that strict action will be taken against them if they do not adhere to the prices affixed by the government for essential commodities.

The district administration said that there were sufficient wheat stocks to fulfil needs of Rawalpindi’s residents. To complaints about profiteering and hoarding, citizens can call: 0800-0234.
