ISLAMABAD:
An officer of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and another from Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) were removed from their posts for allegedly having connections with land grabbers, The Express Tribune learnt on Thursday.
Sources said that on the directions of the Prime Minister Secretariat, the ministry of interior had launched a high-level inquiry against CDA Deputy Commissioner Saad Bin Asad and ICTA Assistant Deputy Commissioner (General) Umar Liaquat Randhawa for their alleged links with the land mafia.
Meanwhile, Revenue Department Additional Collector Asadullah is also facing an inquiry for abuse of power, while the Koral police station SHO Ishtiaq Shah is also suspended over charges of abetting the land mafia.
The PM secretariat had further directed the interior ministry to launch stringent action against land grabbers as well as other criminal elements.
CDA serves notices on nine shopping centres
Subsequently, Interior Minister Aijaz Shah had ordered the Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Islamabad General Police (IGP) to identify black sheep amongst government officials.
Meanwhile, IGP Aamer Zulfiqar had summoned a meeting of senior officers and instructed them to collect information about all such individuals. IG said that the police should take action against the culprits involved in land grabbing in the federal capital.
Sources told The Express Tribune that the interior minister has also obtained records for the cases filed against land grabbers in the city over the past five years. The ministry has sought detailed reports of the police investigation in all such cases.
