BAHAWALNAGAR:

A man shot dead his wife in Maharwali area situated on the outskirts of Bahawalnagar on Thursday.

Reportedly, Abida Bibi, a mother of five, was fatally shot by her husband after he subjected her to violence.

The victim’s family alleged that Saleem brutally tortured and killed Abida after the couple had an argument over a domestic issue.

According to reports, 30-year-old Abida was killed inside a locked room at the couple’s residence in Donga Bonga police station limits.

The local police shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem.

A brother of the victim, Muhammad Yaseen, son of Noor Ali Kharal, stated in the first information report (FIR) that Abida Bibi, his youngest sister, was married to Muhammad Saleem about 12 years ago. The couple had two sons and three daughters.

“Mohammad Saleem often blamed and fought with my sister and we would always reconcile the couple,” he said.

“Two days ago, the couple had an intense quarrel at 2am,” he said, adding, “Saleem took out a 30-bore pistol and fired at my sister. The bullet passed through her right arm and hit her in the ribs due to which she fell.”

“My sister passed away due to injuries on the spot and her husband fled the scene,” he complained.

Yaseen said his sister’s husband was suspicious of her character and often created a scene to malign her.
